Historical Note
The United Kosher Butchers Association was established in the Greater Boston area in 1928 and incorporated as a business association in April 1930. The Association's Kashrut Commission engaged in the certification and supervision, under the rabbinical supervision of the Vaad Harabonim of Greater Boston, of kosher meats. The association was reorganized in 1954 and unofficially dissolved in 1970.

Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of reports, announcements, invitations and a photograph from the early history of the United Kosher Butchers Association. Of special interest is the informal report of a dispute between the Vaad Harabonim and retailers belonging to the Association and a photograph from the Association's installation dinner in 1928. The collection also contains an audit of the Association's holdings from 1929.
