In the late 19th- and early 20th-centuries, Brockton, Massachusetts was an industrial center. Primarily a manufacturing hub for shoes and textiles, the city contained over 100 separate shoemaking companies by the early 1900s. During this period, Brockton’s busy industry drew many immigrants. These immigrants included Jewish artisans and laborers who formed the Labor League.
