Historical Note
In 1944, the Jewish Public Relations Council of Pittsburgh, later known as the Jewish Community Relations Council of Pittsburgh, locally represented the American Jewish Committee, American Jewish Congress, B’nai B’rith, and Jewish Labor Committee. Lillian Friedberg was Executive Director of the Council from 1943 to 1965.

The collection consists of one folder of telegrams to President Franklin D. Roosevelt citing American Association of University Women Pittsburgh branch and other Pittsburgh-based support for the “Free Ports” plan for European refugees; correspondence from Lillian A. Friedberg, Executive Director of the Jewish Public Relations Council in Pittsburgh, to Isaiah Minkoff; and a “Resolution on Nazi Brutality” prepared by the Jewish Public Relations Council for the May 27-28, 1944 All-Slav Convention in Pittsburgh. All material dates between May and June of 1944.
