Ernst Wolf Collection

 Collection
Identifier: AR 1113

Scope and Content Note

Family trees comprise the bulk of the first series, and the second series, documents and correspondence, contains family correspondence and the papers of the Wolf family, including letters of protection, patents, vital documents, school certificates, and business records. Within the correspondence folder are a number of announcements for weddings, graduations, funerals, engagements, and similar occasions. There are also several documents originating from the Saxon court at Dresden, of which a small but considerable number are facsimiles created in calligraphic handwriting by Albert Wolf in the 1880s and 1890s. Most of the documents are, however, originals, with intact wax seals and signatures of important officials in Saxony/Poland, including of the King Frederick Augustus I and the regent Maria Antonia. Within this subgroup of official documents are decrees, letters of protection (Schutzbriefe), licenses (Patente), passports, marriage permits, taxation documents, and vouchers of good character (Führungszeugnisse).
