 Collection
Identifier: AR 6512

Scope and Content Note

The collection is made up primarily of letters written by Henry Rothschild while on various travels, mostly to the United States.

The letters are bundled together by date and each section includes an English summary of their contents. The handwritten letters are sometimes illegible, but there are also many typed items. Folder 10 includes the lecture given by Frankfurt's city councillor on the occasion of the unveiling of a plaque at Franz Rosenzweig's residence, which was built for him by Rothschild. There is also a letter from Rothschild's daughter, Friedel Lichtenberg, relating her memories of Rosenzweig and a photograph of Rosenzweig as a young boy. Folder 11 contains various misc. items including a 1935/36 business report for Adler, Rothschild's firm, and an article written about a lecture given by Rothschild in 1929 concerning the differences in transportation systems of America and Germany. There is also a copy of a biographical sketch of Rothschild and his mother, Stella Rothschild née Schott, as well as the reminiscences of Friedel Lichtenberg (2 pages).
