Walter Hochstadter Collection

 Collection
Identifier: AR 25344 / MF 1051

Scope and Content Note

Materials comprising the Walter Hochstadter Collection are quite fragmentary in nature and only give us a rather patchy understanding of the history of the Hochstadter family and Walter Hochstadter’s professional activities.

The bulk of the collection consists of photographs, most of which are Hochstadter family photographs, with some photographs taken by Walter Hochstadter in China during his trip there in the mid 1930s.

Another large segment of the collection consists of correspondence, most of which is correspondence between Walter Hochstadter and his parents, Amalia and Hermann Hochstadter.

The most interesting part of correspondence consists of the letter written by Walter Hochstadter during his stay in China in the mid 1930s.

Other materials in the collection include vital, travel, and immigration documents, cookbooks, lists, a travelogue, genealogical materials and some printed materials.
